Shipping Class does not work

I love WooCommerce and use it for 8 stores. I have been using WooCommerce for more than 5 years. The one problem pertains to shipping. The shipping class feature has never worked and it is important that it does work. This causes all sorts of problems with calculating shipping costs. There are plugins and other ways to calculate shipping without shipping classes but it would be much easier if there was some way to make the shipping class feature work. Right now I am trying to sell one product with free shipping. It seems that this is a good use for the shipping class. Another use is fixed rate shipping. I know that if I buy two plugins then I can effectively make shipping classes and assign the correct shipping rules to the correct products. I keep hoping that with each WooCommerce update that the shipping class feature will be fixed. I would like to make the people who are in in charge of WooCommerce aware that there is a problem with the shipping class which has been occurring for years. I search google for solutions and no one has a solution. I would like to find a way to either fix the shipping class feature or simply remove it from WooCommerce. It would save me a lot of wasted time trying it to see if the updates have corrected the problem. If I knew that it will never work and there was an option to remove the shipping class, then I would not be tempted to waste lots of time trying to make it work.

I would like to know if there is a solution to make the shipping class feature work or if there is one coming in the near future.
