I have products that use calculated shipping and products that use flat rate shipping. However, shipping classes doesn’t seem to be working correctly when trying to use the flat rate selection on my Virtual Banner product. It’ll show the correct $4 flat rate shipping in California, but if I select another state, it calculates shipping.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello there,
we would need screenshots of your shipping zones and methods to understand what is happening and if the issue is with the configuration.

I recommend Snapboard to easily take and share screenshots – https://snipboard.io/ – or read more about taking screenshots at https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

Here’s the shipping zone I’m trying to use on my Virtual Backgrounds product. I want this product to have the $4 flat rate to any state (minus Alaska and Hawaii).

I do not seem to see any method that would calculate shipping. Can you show me a scree shot of that?

    Where would I find that?

I had someone build the site for me as this in not my forte and they are gone now. I’m trying to edit and manage the site as best I can as this is a new business and I can’t pay anyone to do it yet. These forums are also challenging for me to use.

Is there anyway to call or a live chat option?

    I appreciate your help.

    Hi there,
If you are using a plugin purchased from WooCommerce.com you can access chat and email support from your support page at https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/.

If you are only using third party plugins you would be best to contact the plugin developers for support.

With your current issue, to assist you in this forum we will need a bit more information about how you shipping is set up so lets start with that first zone called 0-150 miles. Please can you open that zone and then open the free shipping method. Then take a screenshot of how the Flat Rate is set up so we can check it for you. I am particularly interested in how any calculated rates and shipping classes are set up.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi there,
    Many thanks for the screenshot.
From it I see that you have not set a cost for items that use the shipping class Virtual backgrounds. The cost you set for this shipping class is added to the base cost of the flat rate, currently 8.21. Thus you can reduce the cost by adding a negative value. In your case, if you add a cost of -4.21 the final cost will be 4.00 as required:

Thank you for your message. I don’t think that’s what I’m trying to do.

Here’s a screenshot of my shipping page.

I have some products, the boxes, that need to be shipped by weight and distance. I have set those up based on mileage and zip codes. That’s what the first five zone names reflect. So, when someone places a box in their cart and then enters their address for shipping calculation, shipping is calculated based on the weight and distance of the package and they are charged accordingly.

The $4 flat rate zone name is for smaller packages where I want to charge a $4 flat rate anywhere in the U.S. except Alaska and Hawaii. Currently, I’m trying to use this method for the “Virtual Background” product. Here’s the screen shot of the $4 flat rate zone name.

This $4 flat rate should be independent of those other zones.

I’m needing to use this $4 flat rate for a new product that will be available on October 1 as well.

    Thank you for your help.

    @gkhellwig

No one will never see the $4 Flat Rate because the zone above it already qualifies all customers in the US and shows them its method(s).

With shipping zones, I often see two common pitfalls so I wanted to quickly address them here. The most common one is a misunderstanding of how shipping zones are matched. Only one shipping will be matched and returned at checkout, and it’s based on the customer’s shipping address. WooCommerce will search from the top zone to the bottom one and return the first one it finds.

You’ll need to combine all methods within the same location together. Here is an article to help:
