Shipping costs: Changes to the settings are not displayed

Thank you for reaching out! It sounds like there’s some confusion with the shipping costs not updating correctly based on the region settings you’ve configured. It’s great that you’ve already taken steps by disabling plugins and updating your system.

To better assist you, could you please provide us with a screenshot or a video showing your shipping zone settings? This will allow us to see what might be causing the issue and guide you more effectively. For video, you may use https://loom.com or https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/. For screenshots, you can use snipboard.io?to take a screenshot. This will generate a link that can be pasted directly into your response here.

Also, please confirm if you’re using any kind of caching plugin on your site, as sometimes cached pages can show outdated information. Note that caching can sometimes cause the website to display older information instead of the most recent changes you’ve made. It’s a way for the website to load faster by temporarily storing copies of content. If your site uses caching, it could be showing the old shipping costs instead of the updated ones and clearing your site’s cache could be a possible solution.

If you’re unsure about the caching plugin, please share with us the System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste the text in here using the “<code>” block.

And here is the status. We use the plugin autoptimize. But I already cleared the cache and disabled the plugin and so on.

Hi @sportlermin ,

Thank you for the screenshots and system status report. I checked your shipping zone settings, and everything looks correct. I also tried your site’s frontend and noticed it’s already set to €18.00, just like what the backend shows in your screenshot.

Please check if it’s still different on your end. It’s possible that clearing the site’s cache with Autoptimize took effect after some time.

If it’s still showing differently on your end, sometimes shipping info can get locked to a session, or transient data needs clearing. Here are a couple of steps to try:

1. Go to WooCommerce > Status > Tools and clear transients, as well as customer sessions.
2. Try to clear your browser cache or use a different browser/device to check. It might be a visual error caused by outdated browser data.
3. Double-check your shipping zones to ensure there are no duplicate or conflicting zones which might override the settings for Germany or Europe. (This is unlikely, but I’d like to suggest checking just to be sure).

Hi @sportlermin! I had another look at the screenshots you shared. I see the Shipping Zones screenshot where have EU and DTL shipping zones, but the other 2 screenshots are the same (both showing the EU zone setup).

I had a poke around your site, and added STRADIVARI’S SECRET Room Fragrance 2 to the cart. I notice that on the cart page, regardless of which country I select, the shipping is always €18.

However, if I click through to the checkout page, when I select Germany it’s €18, but any of the other countries are €36 – is that how you expect it to work?

There are 2 unusual things:

• I see Shipping debugging is enabled, so at the top of the page, it shows which zone the address qualifies for. But, even while I change the address to an EU shipping zone country, the message still tells me “Dem Kunden zugewiesene Versandzone DTL” (until I refresh the page, then it shows the right zone).
• On the 1st visit, the cart page refused to change from Germany. However, if I go to the checkout page and change the address there, when I then go back to the cart page, it shows me the country I selected on the checkout page.

It seems like something is interrupting the flow of data. We often see this when the cart and/or checkout pages have not been excluded from caching or concatenating plugins, or when something else conflicts with the required functionality.

So, how do we fix this?

1. While I acknowledge you said you already cleared the caches and disabled Autoptimize, I suggest going to Settings > Autoptimize, clicking Save Changes and Empty Caches at the bottom, and then temporarily disabling the plugin entirely. At least until this issue is resolved.
2. You also have what appears to be a must-use plugin named advanced-cache.php . Often added by website hosts, you should have additional settings for it somewhere in your WP Admin to allow you to flush, reset, or temporarily disable it. I suggest doing the latter.
3. I would also suggest temporarily disabling Really Simple Security. I’m not familiar with this plugin and unsure if it plays a part, so best to temporarily remove it from the equation by disabling it.

Once you’ve followed the suggestions above, open a private/incognito browser window or, if you have that option, use an entirely different device (on a different internet connection if you can). That’s the best way to ensure you sidestep all potential caches.

What if that too doesn’t work?

If the issue persists even after you tried the above, then the next step would be to set up a staging site, and run a full conflict test. Start by checking if you can recreate the issue with only WooCommerce and a standard theme (like Storefront Theme) active. If you can’t, it points to a plugin and/or theme conflict. In that case, re-enable all your other plugins and theme, one by one, testing after each. That will reveal when (and by what) the issue is introduced.
