The rates are off between my business account and the plugin.

    domestic shipping
regular parcel – off by +$1 or more
priority parcel – off by +$2 or more
Express post – off by +$7 to $10

**And I don’t see an option for expedited, only regular, priority and express. I’m using the free plug-in. Snail mail is unchecked.

Does this price include fuel surcharge/ gst / signature, etc.?
I am using my PRODUCTION API keys (Development API keys did not work and resulted in an error). I have a small business account set up with Canada Post.

    What I did:
I created an items in my store and filled out the weight, length, width and height (all metric). My dimensions are 38cm x 31cm x 8cm and weight is 1.18 kg. The prices on my website are conflicting with my rates at Canada Post.

    Any insight?

so it looks like I’m not getting my “Small Business” discount from Canada Post when the rates are returned.
    I created a package today:

Expedited Shipping service price $11.23 (At Canada Post)
    Additional options $0.00
    Small business savings – $1.57
    Fees/fuel surcharge $0.92
    Total before taxes $10.58
    Taxes $0.53
    Shipment total $11.11

My website is showing delivery for Regular Parcel (is the same as Expedited for me):
    $12.09 + GST

    So…If I take $11.23 and $.92 = $12.15 (pretty darn close to $12.09

For Priority Shipping service price $23.80 (At Canada Post)
    Additional options $0.00
    Small business savings – $2.18
    Fees/fuel surcharge $2.05
    Total before taxes $23.67
    Taxes $1.18
    Shipment total $24.85

My website is showing delivery for Priority:
    $25.33 + GST

    If I take $23.80 + $1.18 = $24.98

Keep in mind that if I take away the Small Business Savings, I have to add that portion of the GST back into the figures.

SO…..is there a reason I’m not getting the Small Business Discount?
Should I generate new API keys?

I’m searching the Canada Post forums and came upon this from another user:

    Hi asirullah,

You should automatically get the proper discounted rate unless you explicitly state you want “counter” (post office) rate when asking for a price quote – the default is “commercial” which is the discounted rate for your account.

If you are not getting the proper discounted rate you should reach out to the shipping solution you’re using (Shopify and eBay) to find out which setting you should change.

    Many thanks,
    The Developer Program team

Is there a setting I/you can change so I get the proper rates??

    Hey

    Thanks for reaching out.

The plugin quotes the base cost plus the fuel surcharge. Taxes are calculated by WooCommerce.

The free plugin uses just the product weights to get quotes from Canada Post so it may not always match exactly, but should be very close.

The premium version of the plugin allows you to enter your customer number and get the shipping discounts. It also lets you define boxes so that the LxWxH are taken into account.

    Does that all make sense?

    I believe so, thanks.
So the API keys don’t get you the discount, they are merely to have an account with Canada Post?

I already wrote custom code to hide/show different shipping methods (based on US or Canada)…that means some of your plug-in’s functionality isn’t needed (like hiding/showing methods). And I don’t ship in boxes (shipping bags only), so that feature won’t be used.

I don’t have time to figure out how to send my customer code in the call, which leaves me just two options: 1.) Leave everything as-is, 2.) Purchase your plug-in so I can get the preferred discounts.

I wouldn’t be so concerned if the shipping quotes didn’t have such a variance.

Thank you for responding so fast.

No worries on the fast response. I try and help out as soon as I see the emails come in.

It’s my understanding that the customer number is required in order to get the discounts. They come back from the API as V1DISC in the adjustments.

If you do decide to purchase the other feature you get that might help is the ability to mark up or down the various shipping methods. If things aren’t close enough for you, you could use that for adjusting.

Either way here’s a coupon for 50% off. I hate when my only solution is to tell people to upgrade so hopefully that discount helps out.

Much appreciated. I thought I was done, I am not.
One other shipping option we have is the flat-rate shipping boxes. There are 3 sizes and each can hold up to 11 lbs and ships anywhere within Canada for a flat rate. If I define a box (in your paid plug-in) can I also charge a flat rate for this/these box/boxes? Or does Canada Post use the box dimensions/weight to see if the items will fit and then charge a fee accordingly? I assume so.

It’s very advantageous for our customers in the Eastern Provinces (we are in Alberta) as shipping from our location to theirs is more money. So I’d like to have some type of option that 1.) calculates the items to see if they will fit in a flat rate box, 2.) Use that box and charge a set fee, not a fee from Canada Post. I suppose I could just go in myself and see if 1.) the weight of all items is under 11 lbs and 2.) see if the dimensions will fit inside one of these boxes. Then I could go and show/hide default woocommerce shipping methods accordingly (as well as hide any non-relevant Canada Post methods). Make sense? LOL…sorry to ramble on.

    Sorry for the delay.

To charge a flat rate on those boxes you’d need to use some other plugin or customize this plugin to detect certain cases like that. I don’t think the code changes would take much more than a few hours.

    Hope this helps.

Hi..No worries about not replying asap! I know you are busy. So I am still deciding about your plugin, and about writing some custom shipping code (on top of what I have already).
    I appreciate your help.
