Shipping taxonomy

    I posted this before, but rec’d no replies. Google Webmaster is showing URL errors for many of my products. This is just one example: “?taxonomy=product_shipping_class&term=soap/feed/”

    I can’t find anything wrong with my shipping settings & have no idea what this means. I’m on an iMac running 10.11.6. (BTW, I’m not using Advanced Shipping.)

    Hey there!

    Typically the only reason that any kind of taxonomy like that would be showing in the console there would be that it’s linked somewhere. That is just basically a list of all the products using the shipping class “soap”.

    But it’s in the 404-not found list on Webmaster! Why? I can’t redirect cuz I haven’t a clue what I’d redirect to. There are a lot of those listed as 404s.

    Hi there!

    It looks like you’re running Yoast SEO which has sitemap support for custom taxonomies. You may want to check it’s not creating sitemap entires for the product_shipping_class taxonomy:

    I would check the settings and disable it for that taxonomy if you can as that’s really for internal WooCommerce use and not needed publicly.

    You could always redirect that, and other, URLs to your shop page.

    I don’t understand enough about taxonomy to follow the Yoast direction, but if I’m understanding you correctly, I can simply redirect all the 404s to the correct product pages and not worry about the shipping? That I can do!

    I think so yes! It’s just for the shipping class that the products are in which shouldn’t really be public.
