"Shop" drops out of breadcrumbs

Hi,
How do you keep the “Shop’ link from dissapearing from the breadcrumbs as the customer navigates? After clicking on a product, there is no way to get back to that page except by using the back button in the browser or going back to the main menu. This seems to be a major oversite.
