    Question regarding defining the Shop page – option found under:
    Woocommerce / Settings / Products / General

    In the docs:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/configuring-woocommerce-settings/#section-7

    ..its’ implied that you don’t need to define a shop page. However if you do clear the Shop page option – and happen to have a page with domain/shop/ then Woocommerce overrides the page.

    Is this correct behaviour?

    So far the only solution I’ve got is to create another page, tell Woocommerce to use it and setup a 301 redirect – seems overkill / hacky?

    Hi @floq-design!

    You wouldn’t need to set up a 301 redirect. You only need to create and set the new page under wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=products and WooCommerce will pick it up. Is that where you are setting the newly created page, or are you setting it elsewhere?

    Cheers!

    @rynald0s I didn’t explain my setup sorry.
    I don’t want a Woocommerce shop page at all!
    A project I’m working has the product details integrated into other pages, so need for a Woocommerce shop page.
    Plus the site already has a /shop/ page for merchandise.

    Hi @floq-design

    Thanks for the clarification.

    WooCommerce expects there to be a link to the shop page in a number of different circumstances – such as the “Return to Shop” button you see when you visit an empty cart. You can, however, change what the name/URL of that shop page in your WooCommerce settings as you noticed.

    Because WooCommerce defaults to /shop/ and you already have that URL being used, you could create a different shop page with a different name and then do a 301 redirect as you mentioned.

    I would just recommend clicking everything your customers might click to make sure they don’t get any dead links. ??
