Shop pictures too large since update

All of my shop pictures have become very large since the 3.3 update (now on 3.3.1). I think what might be causing it is my WooCommerce sidebar has gone to the bottom of the page instead of the right, making the pictures want to stretch to fill the whole screen.

What I’ve tried:

In Appearance > Customise, changing:

• Product columns (putting more columns in does reduce the image size, as they fill the screen, but the sidebar is still underneath)
• Sidebar layout (makes zero difference to anything, unless I go for a two-sidebar option, whereby I get an extra bit to the right of my sidebar offering to add custom widgets)
• Main image width (doesn’t change the size or appearance of the images at all)
• Thumbnail width (doesn’t change the size, does change the quality of the images)

Also, making the browser window smaller does make the images smaller.
