ShopperPress: Featured items and banner!

I’m fairly new to shopper press and i’m running into problems. I’m trying to use the download shopper theme, but I cannot find where to insert the banner that is standard in the default theme as well as the basic red, blue, green and purple themes. But it is not in the download shopper theme and I cant see to place a banner below the navigation bar.
I’m also having trouble with the featured items container. when adding the custom field “featured_image” and the respective image, only the post shows up in the display(without the image)??
These both seem like easy things to manage but i’m having difficulty.
Can someone familiar with shopperPress please enlighten me
