Short date stuck to today’s date on some events
-
Hello,
I have an issue with the short date that appears on the left of the event in a list view : today’s date is displayed on some events.
For instance on a list widget the two first events have the issue (displaying short month and the date), same thing on the calendar page (displaying short day and the date).I’ve tried to disable my other plugins to see if there was any conflict but no luck. I can’t figure out where does the issue come from and why does it happen only on some events.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
Thanks for getting back in touch and for providing your system information details. The next step is ruling out any conflicts between our plugins and the other plugins on your site.
Please could you try installing Health Check & Troubleshooting and running a check? This could give us additional context on what’s going on behind the scenes. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-nineteen to see if the issue persists.
If the issue still persists, please try running a quick conflict test on your site. This test will reveal if any other element of your site, the theme or one of the plugins, is causing conflicts. You can follow the steps mentioned in the link below and share the results with me, https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/
Basically the goal here is to revert to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
I suggest running the tests on a staging version of your live site, so it will not adversely affect your live site. Here’s our resource on how to create a staging site https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/
Cheers,
Allen
TEC SupportHello,
Thanks. I installed the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, and there’s no issue apparently. I’ve reverted to the Twenty Twenty-Two theme and deactivated all my plugins except The Events Calendar, the problem persists, unfortunately.Hi @maloherry
It looks like things are displaying as expected on your website. Are you still seeing the issue?
Let me know!
Thanks,
JaimeHi @jaimemarchwinski,
Yes the issue is still here : the short date of the 2 first events is today’s date, and not the start date of the events. For instance, the first event “Spectacle – La Chute – Paris – Théatre de la Contrescape” started on January, 10th but the displayed short date is “Mar 11” on the home page (using widget) and “Ven 11” on the calendar page.Hi @maloherry
The event that you are referring to is a multi-day event, so it is displayed as January 10 – March 11. If you’d like for it to display as a single event, I’d recommend breaking it up into single events for each day that the event is occurring.
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
JaimeHi @maloherry,
It seems like this thread gone quiet, and there are no further activities. We assume that this is already fixed or no longer applicable. I would mark this as resolved for now.
If that is not the case, please let me know, and I will gladly remove the “Resolved” tag and try to help you further. Or you can create a new topic with the issue if you prefer.
Best,
AbzHello, I’m reactivating this topic to see if it is possible to change the behavior of the short date on multi-day events. If I understand correctly your logic, for an event that goes from April 4th to June 4th (currently the first event on my website), the short date displayed is today’s date (May 17th) as the event has already started.
As I understand it may be OK for others, it is confusing for me (and apparently for my visitors): is there a way to display the start date (April 4) instead of today’s date even after the event has started ?
Thanks!
Hi @allenzamora and @jaimemarchwinski, I’m tagging you because I’m not sure you’re seeing my reply since the topic is marked as resolved!
