When you save a post in the classic editor, it strips all the line breaks from the post. So Rank Math’s Short Paragraph Test thinks the post is one long paragraph.

When I go to the text editor and manually add line breaks after every paragraph, my posts pass this test. But when I save the post, the editor again strips out all line breaks and the test fails.

    Hello @mesmer7,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

It seems like an issue on our end, and we have reported the same to our developers.

But please stay advised that these tests are just guidelines, and one does not need to follow them religiously.

At the end of the day, the content needs to be written for the readers and not for the search engines.

Scoring higher points in Rank Math’s tests won’t guarantee higher rankings.

In the meantime, if there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

    We are here to assist.

@mesmer7 do you mean “paragraph breaks”? Line breaks are cosmetic, rather than semantic, but paragraph breaks actually create separate content elements.

In the Classic editor, there’s Visual mode, and there’s Text mode. Hitting Enter in Visual mode adds a paragraph break. In Text mode, it adds a line break, and hitting it twice (looks like a blank line) creates a paragraph break.

I don’t see any stripping of characters on my sites, and short paragraphs are being correctly identified (just tested this, to be sure). Can this be related to a plugin, custom code, or WordPress’ language settings vs. your own computer’s?
