I’ve used shortcodes on several pages in the past but just noticed that it’s not working on a new page (I haven’t checked on other pages). The view works but not the category. Using the shortcode [ai1ec view=”posterboard” cat_name=”activity”] shows everything, whether activity or meeting category. When I use [ai1ec view=”posterboard” cat_name=”meeting”] nothing comes up even though half the events are only categorized as meetings.

I also tried using the category picker on the default calendar and everything shows up when I choose “activity” and nothing shows up when I choose “meeting”.

    Hi,

    i did a test. https://take.ms/TWeQf

and it seems to work, i just tagged one event “Big Ticket” https://take.ms/DOFtD

can you check for conflicts?although i do not think it’s a conflict. https://time.ly/document/user-guide/troubleshooting/first-troubleshooting-step/

Can you paste a link to the calendar page?

My apologies! Turns out everything somehow got recategorized as Activity. One of the downsides of having multiple contributors is that they sometimes do things they don’t understand. The categories are displaying properly.

I also should have included a link to the site. Sorry about that oversight. Here is a link so you can see some results of your handiwork

    Again, my apologies!

OK, this is really weird. I’ve changed the categories for all the meetings twice and they hold for a few minutes, then revert to the first alpha category again. No wonder they all were showing up on the Activity calendar. Any idea what’s going on and how it can be fixed? Should I start a new report?

Further information. It appears to happen when I edit the post (as opposed to Quick Edit). I did Quick Edit changes from Activity to Board, then full Edited the Events to change the Featured Image. After the full Edit they were changed back to the Activity category (the first alpha category).

What is the “First alpha category”?What do you mean? Are you importing events from a calendar feed or somehing like tha?

    Thread Starter ldekay

    (@ldekay)

By first alpha I mean that the category “Activity” comes before the category “Meeting” and its subcategory “Board” which is what these meetings are categorized as.

And Yes, I am importing from a Google calendar. I just checked and found the settings to be:
    Event categories: Activity
Allow comments: No Show map: Yes
Keep original events categories and tags: Yes
On refresh, preserve previously imported events that are missing from the feed: Yes
Assign default time zone to events in UTC: Yes

That explains why the category is resetting. I don’t recall setting that category as the default, but I’ve reset the import with the following settings:
Allow comments: No Show map: Yes
Keep original events categories and tags: Yes
On refresh, preserve previously imported events that are missing from the feed: Yes
Assign default time zone to events in UTC: Yes

I hope that takes care of my issues… sorry to have been bugging you with things I should have caught myself. You’ve been remarkably patient. Thanks again.

    Hi Idekay,

Glad we could help. If you have time, a review really helps!

    Thanks,

You’ve got it. Increased a 1-Star to a 4-Star. Would’ve been 5-Star but after past problems I’m still withholding full accolades.
