Shortcode for Author, Date and Gravatar

Yes you can make their corresponding filters to use a shorcode instead.

Say for example, you want to use the shortcode’s output as your author:

add_filter( 'generate_post_author_output', function( $output ) {    
    return do_shortcode('[your_shortcode]');
} );

This is applicable to dates and avatar as well.
