I upgraded to WordPress 4.4 today and now find that, instead of the content generated by a shortcode being displayed in the homepage “Featured Content” area as it previously was, now only the shortcode itself is.

  • The plugin responsibe for doing something based on that shortcode is using an obsolete function, I suppose. Doesn’t sound like it has anything to do with the Responsive theme (which is what this part of the support forum is about).

Talk the the plugin manufacturer; perhaps they’re already aware of it, but perhaps not.

It turns out the fault was with my shortcode. It was using [shortcodename=”fred”], when it should have been [shortcodename parameter=”fred”]. Apparently for WordPress versions less than 4.4 my incorrect shortcode was being rendered as [shortcodename], which — in this situation — worked. For WordPress 4.4 it no longer worked.

I had the same problem, although not related to the Responsive theme. It turned out that I had a different character between short codename and parameter that looked like a blank but wasn’t one. After replacing this character with a normal blank, the shortcode worked again.
