    Hi,

I am trying to use HTML snippets within the description field of a photo in the Nextgen Gallery plugin. I am hoping to get the HTML parsed when the photo and description are displayed on a page. Unfortunately, the shortcode is displayed in plain text rather then parsing the HTML. The snippet otherwise works well in standard post & pages.

Is there a way around this?

I know the Nextgen Gallery plugin allows HTML in the description field, but in my case the code I want to use includes a form which interferes with the form field for the plugin. I was hoping to use the Post Snippets plugin to have a safe container for the HTML code.

    Thanks!
    Simone

  • Hi,

That sounds to me that the Nextgen Gallery isn’t executing shortcodes when used in a description.
I’d suggest you post a feature request to the Nextgen Gallery developer(s) to implement generic WordPress shortcode support for descriptions, which would allow any shortcode to be used (not only Post Snippets’ shortcodes).

If you need shortcode support in Nextgen Gallery you’d probably get more accurate help posting in their support forum (feature addition or finding a workaround to enable WordPress shortcodes in that plugin).

    Cheers,
    Johan

    Hi Johan,

Thanks for your input, sounds like a good idea. In the mean time I have reverted to using a form with single line inputs rather than textareas.

    Cheers,
    Simone
