    Thank you for your reply.

I am afraid I don’t see any shortcode at the page you linked me, I just see there is a block, but I need a shortcode cause I mostly post via mail and that way shortcodes are the way to go.

    Thank you.

The “Adding a Visual Link in the Classic Editor” section in that documentation covers how to add the shortcode.

The visual editor will actually show a preview but you can go to “Text Editor” Go copy the shortcode itself.

It’s not a typical shortcode though but rather used encoded values. So it might not work for what you’re trying to do.

    Thank you.

What I would need is a shortcode like, say, [preview="https://www.myurl.it] so that I can just include it into mails.

Do you confirm the plugin does not sport such a kind of shortcode?

Otherwise if it’s encoded maybe is there a way to generate it starting from a plain text link?

    Thank you.

i’d like to second that request. is there any way one can do without the encoding on the editor side?

i’d like to use the plugin in conjunction with with a microblogging style theme which does provide a frontend editor, but without the kitchensink wysiwyg tools.

I’ll look into allowing both regular attributes and the encoding we currently use.

    Hi again,

I wanted to let you know I just released Visual Link Preview 2.1.0 which now allows you to manually construct the shortcode as well. There’s some more information here: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/262-manually-construct-the-vlp-shortcode
