shortcodes and elementor

Elementor does have a shortcode feature to add to an existing widget but that is in the Pro version. Most Widgets have an option near the bottom in the Advanced tab that allows CSS(Shortcode). There is a shortcode widget but I don’t think that will add code to other widgets. It’s more for calling certain functions to the page. There are ways to add shortcode to widgets but it’s manual and you need to edit the file.

after a whole day of google and youtube videos I found out how to do it:

1) create whatever it is I want created in the dashboard, create the shortcode and copy it
2) open the page (you want the code inserted) with FREE elementor
3) add new section
4) add shortcode button from the elementor section
5) add generated shortcode
6) update.

LesTexas60, please please please be careful as to what you post here. Unfortunately your answer was not at all helpful. Because, even if you know how to manually “edit the file” please tell us what to do in simple above mentioned steps, so we can try to learn how to do things as well.

@martin177, in step 1), do you mean create the shortcode in a test page using the regular wordpress editor, copy the newly created shortcode (from visual or text editor?), and then proceed to Elementor and copy it into the shortcode element?
