Not sure if I’m missing something super obvious but the plugin runs and it finds shortcodes but it doesn’t actually removed them.

They show in the details however they are still present in the page code and the content if I go into the editor.

How do I make it actually remove them? Is there a big delete button I’m missing or something?

There are no instructions to this effect and I’ve looked through all the settings and haven’t found the answer. Why is the plugin not removing the shortcodes it finds?

    Thanks,
    Nicole

P.S. I would use the official support channel but it requires registration and account creation and I don’t feel that is necessary to get support. I already have an account here…

No help here for a plugin that just isn’t working?

    Hello,

Did you read the plugin description?

This lite version Cleans up the frontend site content ONLY, but the Pro version Cleans up the backend editor admin content and the content into a database.

After installed and activated the plugin it will clean up any broken shortcodes automatically without any action from you, but this cleaning just for the front-end site enough means that if you go to the plugin settings and disabled the option ( clean up the front-end site ) all broken shortcodes will come back again, which this option doesn’t clean up the content within the database, just within front-end site content.

You need to purchase the pro version only when you want to clean up your content within the backend/database not just within the front-end content.

    Apologies for my delayed response.

Thanks for taking the time to reply however your reply is rather confusing.

The front end and backend are one and the same thing. Well they should be. As in the content shown on the front end is supposed to be exactly that which is present in the “post_content” field of the wp_posts table in the WordPress database for that post. If the shortcodes don’t exist then they should be output as text exactly as they are in the database.

If you are not cleaning the database then how exactly are you cleaning the front end only?

Are you somehow parsing the content from the database and just hiding any missing shortcodes before showing the content on front end. Well if so then that’s clearly not working either because I can still see some shortcodes when I view the pages on the front end of the website. Also if that is the case then that isn’t really a shortcode “cleaner” is it? It’s more of a shortcode “concealer” or a shortcode “hider”.

I would greatly appreciated if you could take the time to explain from a technical perspective what exactly the differences are in how the shortcode cleaner works in both the free and the pro version.

    Thanks very much,
    Nicole

    Hello,

The front end and backend are not the same, the front end is what the user sees the final output content on the website, but the backend this what you ( admin ) see the data ( content ) on your dashboard.

So, the plugin in this lite-free version cleaning only the final output content within the front end, but without cleaning the data ( content ) within the database.

So, the free version working for the front end only, but the pro version working for both the front end and backend ( database ).

And if you want to know how the plugin working you can check out the source code here: https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/shortcode-cleaner-lite/
