    Hi all,
I’m pretty new to wordpress and CMS’s in general and am testing it in xampp for Windows.

I was interested in a plug-in that required shortcodes. I found that it didn’t work, so I tried to use generic shortcodes and found that those didn’t work either.

I tried typing the [contact-form] shortcode in the body of a page and when I go to view it, the text appears wrapped in <p> tags and no form is shown. Am I missing something?

Another thing, anything I type in the HTML view of a post becomes automatically wrapped in <p> tags. Is this normal? Could this be causing my shortcode problem? How do I fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

After some more searching, I’ve found out that the shortcodes listed at https://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/ only apply to wordpress.com sites out of the box and personal sites will require plug-ins in order for them to work.

I’ll have to lurk the help area of the plug-in that’s giving me troubles.
