Shortcodes not working

I have spent several hours with your two plugins and cannot find out why they do not work for me. I am not new to wordpress or using plugins. I purchased your book to see if there was any instructions that I was missing but everything I am doing checks out. Can you provide some support. I really would like to use this for my photography and website. thanks!
