• I tried everything. All plugins deactivated, switched to twentytwenty theme, still no matter where I insert the simplest shortcode such as [shared_files], nothing appears on my screen. If I insert the uploaded file shortcode then I finally see something: “This feature is available in the Pro version.” Is this a joke? How can someone test this plugin? I have no caching activated. Not working at all. I wanted to test it before I ‘d buy it. Is it just me?

Also the documentation lacks important info: The shortcodes are nowhere mentioned in backend. There is nowhere any info about how to insert them to a page. Someone has to visit your plugin page in order to search and find them.

This is clearly not a free plugin since… yes, you can download it. Yes, you can activate it, you can upload files, but you can’t see them anywhere in any page.

You should find the documentation including a list of available shortcodes for Free/Pro version at the Help / Support page:
    Screenshot

If you wish to try the Pro version for free, there are instructions for that on this page: Free Trial

Basically if you have any files added on the File Management -page, the [shared_files] -shortcode should display such files. If there were not any files present, then the [shared_files] would display nothing. But clearly there is some sort of issue with the plugin when you have some files added and the shortcode won’t display anything.

I’m sorry you have had such a negative experience with the plugin, but I’m happy to help you making it work on your site. There is also a Debug Info -section on the Help / Support page. Could you email me that info to [email protected] so I can then investigate it further? Thank you for providing valuable information for developing the plugin.

Exactly the same thing for me. Even the most basic file upload wont display on the front end in the free version. Id like to try the pro version which looks like it might do what I need, but there is no option in WP admin as this page describes:

@wag1998 Can you confirm that your file has it’s status set to “Published” and visibility to “Publish”? The same way that is defined here: Screenshot

There is a bug in the plugin, that occasionally when adding the first file, prompts an alert like “Are you sure you want to leave this page”, which you should answer “Yes” or “OK” (I can’t remember exactly what it was and can’t currently replicate the issue). If you cancel on this, I believe the file won’t be published and thus the contents of [shared_files] will be empty.

To enable the possibility for a free trial, you should opt-in then installing the plugin, meaning clicking “Allow & Continue” here: Screenshot. But did you opt-in and the Settings -> Account -> Free Trial (tab) still doesn’t exist? If this is the case, I’ll have to investigate it further.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was using the shortcode from the file list [shared_files file_id=2869] which only works in the pro version. I should have used [shared_files]

However I do see the prompt you mentioned “Are you sure you want to leave this page” for every file I upload, not just the first one. Its easy to get past but its a bit miss leading for others who will use my admin. I hope you fix this.

I think I will buy the pro version but I didn’t opt in at the install for the trial oops. Is there another way to opt in after install?
Although its fairly clear what the pro version does

It seems like a nice lite plugin that serves its purpose ??

Ok, I’ll definitely fix this as soon as possible, I haven’t realized before that this happens so often.

You should be able to opt in at any time on your site’s Plugins-page, there is a “Opt in”-link under Shared Files: Screenshot

    And thanks for your feedback!

I had a similar issue in that no files were displayed. I eventually realised that the shortcut I was using was [shared-files] instead of [shared_files]. The problem is that I am sure that I cut and pasted the shortcut from your pages or documentation!

Thanks for reporting! At some point, for some reason, I have put the shortcode in that format to the Help / Support -page. This is now fixed in the latest version.
