Shortcodes showing in archives

Hello,

I see this theme is using a custom excerpt code (ie “total_excerpt”) and not the default wordpress excerpt code. I also see in the functions that the “total_excerpt” code appears to be properly stripping out shortcodes. But it’s not working.

My category pages are showing the Caption Shortcode.
Here’s the site in working on (it’s a dev site, on a multi-site install)

I can’t figure out how to fix this. Been trying to add additional custom functions on top of it but I’m not an expert when it comes to php and so far nothing’s working.

Any help would be appreciated.
