Shortcodes stopped working

    I had a fully functional theme with everything working well until I had to add a contact form. I added contact form 7 and really simple captcha. Everything was still ok, however the CAPTCHA plugin required freetype to be complied within php.
    So I re-complied PHP with freetype support (used the same flags as the ouriginal php installation).

    After the php re-install NO shortcodes are working in wordpress. Neither contact form 7 or NextgenGallery.

    Does anybody have any suggestions how to fix this? Obviously this mosy be some php-wordpress incompatibility which is beyond my understanding.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Seems like I got it sorted for now. The solution, if anybody ever need it is not to try compiling and installing php from source as there can be many vulnerable points that can broke some wordpress functionality like for example the shortcodes. I personally couldn’t find the php “bug” that was responsible for breaking the shortcodes, however came across with this solution that reinstalled a pre-compiled php with most of the modules needed for wp.
