Shortcodes with enclosing tags

How do you add third party shortcodes with enclosing tags? I try to add this one:
[private role=”subscriber”][/private]
it’s from this plugin:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/private-content/

For now I was on version 3.5.0 and I didn’t had to add anything and the shortcodes worked fine. I’ve updated and it doesn’t work. the first part works [private role=”subscriber”] but the second doesn’t.
