Shortcuts for JIG galleries?

    I am using the plugin Justified Image Grid (JIG) to create photo galleries for my websites. I just discovered your RML plugin and have a question about shortcuts, which I do not understand:

    – I have created some Folders now in my WP media library
    – I want to add images to that folders so that the folder and then create a JIG gallery with images from that specific RML folder only

    Now when I go to All Files in my WP library I can drag&drop images in 2 different ways to the specif folder: just drag&drop and also drag&drop with the Shift button hold. The last option will create a so called shortcut.

    I my user case: should I use the shortcut method or better not, and why?

    Thanks for your message.

    Shortcuts are like “Shortcuts” as you know from the Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. It is simply not a copy, instead it is a virtual copy of the file (no physical file is created for a shortcut).

    You need to use shortcuts if you want to put a file into multiple folders.

    Thanks for your fast reply!

    So when I want to add an image to just one single folder I do not have to use shortcuts, but when I want to add an image to multiple RML folders then I have to use shortcuts, correct?

    One other question: is there any disadvantage of using shortcuts by default? For example will it affect my loading times/response time of the JIG gallery pages?

    Yeah, you are completely correct!

    No, there is not a disadvantage when using shortcuts in JIG galleries. They perform as good as usual media files.
