  • +1. Would love to have some control over this. even if it meant using a data attribute on a blockquote to force what I’d like shared… Even being able to specify things like a short url to use, account, etc. would be good.

    <blockquote data-text="My custom tweet string..." data-shorturl="https://wp.me/example" data-account="@cdharrison" data-hashtags="wordpress quotable">Full text of quote goes here...</blockquote>

However, I don’t get what your imgur image displayed… that could at least be manually edited. Mine just gets cut off and displays zero remaining characters.

I’d prefer the suffixed stuff get priority over the quote itself.

In other words, build the tweet with the link, tags, and ‘via @___’ and then insert the quote into whatever characters remain available.

I’d really like to keep the person reading/sharing in control of what goes into the tweet. The idea of this plugin is to make it easy for your readers to share what they want to share. A reader may want to share a longer quote, and leave off the tags to make it fit, or they may want to shorten a tweet by making manual edits to the quote.

@clifford, I’m not sure what you’re seeing. The plugin shouldn’t be cutting anything off.

At this time, I don’t have any plans to support link shorteners other than the native Twitter link shortener. But if you want to submit a pull request on GitHub, I’d be happy to consider adding it. https://github.com/josiahsprague/quotable-wp/

    Makes sense, thanks!
