Should have an option to ignore unpublished and private posts

The plugin does a lot of nice things. However it does not seem to ignore private or draft posts in it’s count of posts so it will say that a post is 5 out of 17, when only 5 are published or are not public. Could be confusing for my users. Perhaps there’s another way to do this. Any suggestions?
