Should I back date new posts?

  • If I have a ton of content to add. some fresh, some less than fresh, is it wise to back date the post date in wordpress? Is this a neg or positive for any reason as far as google is concerned?

  • No benefit in back dating.

    Would actually be the opposite if you are looking for SEO value. The more current the post the higher the rankings. This is one reason why many people disable displaying the date/time on their posts so Google can’t tell it is old news.

    Really? I see the relevance to date posts for freshness but google will redice the value of a search if they see a date?

    I am not a Google employee or know what the algorithm says and neither does everyone else making claims for or against it.

    With that said there are plenty of people that are for and against it based on their personal experience. It is up to you to research and decide if you want to go with it or not.
