Should I delete my import?

HI,
I wanted to try to export from wp.com to my local host wp so that I can start using pagelines to set up my self hosting appearance. I didn’t realize or had forgotten that export only moves text and no media, or that media can’t seem to be exported and imported separately except for one pic at a time (ugh!).

So here’s my incredibly silly question. When/if I do decide to do a guided transfer to my new host and then export that to my local host, do I need to have deleted this prior import first, and if so where do I find it? Or do all future import/exports overwrite the previous, as I assume? And does this mean that all future communication between my local host and my new self hosted site are going to be text content only and I have to re-do all images and media individually?
