• So I’m brand new to this whole thing, and I’ve decided to use WP to write my very first website.

Should I publish each page as I go along, even though the site isn’t remotely close to being finished? What’s the general consensus here?

Not sure if it’s better for SEO to keep publishing as I go along or wait till I’m done?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • Some say it matters, but I’ve seen experienced marketers say it doesn’t. I personally publish as I go, assuming no one is really looking at a new site anyway. I then often manipulate the dates to put posts in the order I want before I start publicizing.

I’m wondering if you want a maintenance screen up so you don’t have to worry about it, maybe? Easy Pie Maintenance Mode is a plugin I like to use while I’m building.

Lots of variables on this. In general, I think publishing as you go is fine, especially for new sites.

That said, if you’re creating a large site and still working on the taxonomy/structure of it, then you could wait until that framework is sound.

Publish as you go works most of the time.

I write for a tech website, I have to write 2 articles a week. I write the 8 articles for the upcoming month then just schedule them.

How often do you want to write? Most “daily bloggers” tend to schedule their 7 “daily” posts at the beginning of the week.
