Should I update from 2.65 to 2.7

Both are current versions and at the moment there are no security/patch issues with either 2.6.5 or 2.7, so you have time to wait and see. If a security issue does show up, the latest version is always best supported.

Some folks have issues with their plugins not being compatible with 2.7, or they just dislike the UI changes. In my opinion, 2.7 is a huge improvement admin UI wise and once the theme is setup, threaded/paged comments are cool.

If you can setup a test blog then you can try before you buy. That way you’ll be aware of any issues before you take the plunge.

If you do take the plunge, make sure you backup your files and database and know how to restore it in case you get buyers remorse.

Based on the problems i have had, then no i wouldn’t upgrade.

I have WordPress 2.65 working locally but I will wait a little bit longer before going with 2.7

I switched to W98 as soon as it came out but spent more time in the firt nine months trying to fix it than I did using it ??

I recommend upgrading. 2.7 has a lot of improvements and streamlining. The ability to automatically one-click install Plugins is an amazing time-saver if you are a big plugin user / tester.

I’ve upgraded 3 sites so far, none had problems. Yes, I’ve had problems stemming from upgrades in the past (like the time they ruined the previous-post and next-post functions and forced everyone to mod your theme with new template tags). But nothing bad like that happened when I upgraded to 2.7.

If you want a more familiar (and in my opinion better) backend interface for 2.7, then try the excellent plugin, and try the option that hides those useless new icons,
