    Hello all.

I’m just about to design and build a couple of websites. I’m a designer so perfectly good at creating my own look and feel without the need for a template.

I’m thinking of buying into a page builder like Visual Composer to build my own layouts. I have no direct experience with the plugin, and just wonder if – given my design experience – using a page builder would be the easiest and best way to create my sites. Assuming you can build from scratch with a page builder?

I have exceptionally limited html knowledge. And no way can I build from scratch. I realise they cause code bloat, but in my case unavoidable.

Any advice would be really valuable.

    Charlie

It sounds like this would fit your requirement, which is great because these “should I use X” questions are only answerable for you.

We don’t support commercial plugins here so make sure you go for one that has a good support service.

If you’re looking for recommendations I’m afraid we can’t give those.

    Thanks Andrew.

It’s mostly the case that I haven’t built from a blank page before. And whilst I’m open to buying a template, I’ve found they can be a little restrictive and you end up changing them anyway to suit your design. And have a lot of functionality you may not use.

I find that a lot of websites are image driven with either 1, 2 or 3 columns of text. Meaning the template showcase pages are mostly ideas on how a website could look?

I think a template is good if you like the look of a certain header and menu functionality. But assume it’s possible to be creative in page editors with header styles?

I’m relatively new to building these for people’s businesses, but have been producing print brochures for years! Am lacking some confidence…
