Should I use WP network of networks

  • I don’t remind how I knew about network of networks but what I was aware of is WordPress Multisite.However, using wp-multi-network plugin, I can say that it is possible to run multiple WordPress Multisites with one code base and WordPress also has inbuilt support for such functionality (by reviwing code and wp_site table).

    Now I have a plan to implement this feature for my customers as a saas model. Should I do this, I mean there is no official support for such functionality, not even a codex entry. Should I proceed and forget about any inconsistency with future upgrades.

  • It’s not part of the “official” WordPress network code, so there’s always a chance that it will break in the future if it doesn’t keep up with updates. Every plugin is the same, so it’s nothing that special there.

    I’d guess that there’s a pretty good chance of this being supported for a while at least just from looking at the authors list. But if you have any concerns I’d suggest asking in the plugins support forum so that the authros can see that your question is about their plugin.

    Thanks for replying, wp-multi-network is just an example of “network of network” plugins out there. My concern is about support of such functionality in WordPress core. Does any one has a clue weather community has any future plans for this feature?

    It’s very much a specialised case, so I don’t believe that there’s much chance of it making it into core, but you never know.

    I’d suggest having a look at https://www.ads-software.com/ideas/ and seeing whats there.

    Thanks for giving the ideas link.

    The mult network plugins require great care.Best not to go there in my opinion.Too many things could go wrong and then you and your clients would lose functionality or the entire network.

    Any alternative to get multiple multisites installations. All WordPress installations needs same configuration, theme and plugins.
