Show a “download button” on the block

Actually, each file is already linked – to the left of the file size – which should start the download when clicked. Why do you wish an additional download button? To make it clear to your visitors that they have to click there? I only ask because for some website owners this is then already a space issue. The more texts, icons and buttons the more restless the view looks.

There is already an issue regarding the icon settings in the github repo of the plugin: https://github.com/threadi/downloadlist/issues/21 – so it is already on the list ??

Yes, exactly for this reason: i want to make it clear to my visitors that they have to click on the download button for starting the download… It will be possible to add this feature on the next updates? maybe a hide/show option in the block settings?

sorry for the late feedback. In the just released version 3.1.0 there is an option to show a download button on each file. The button is practically also just a styled link pointing to the same link target. The label of the button can be adapted e.g. via the Loco Translate plugin.

The alternative to this option is and was already since version 2.0 to create an individual template for the output. I have now also provided instructions for this here: https://github.com/threadi/downloadlist/blob/master/docs/templates.md.

Icon management has already come with version 3.0.0. You can choose the iconset you want at each block in the settings on the right. The plugin comes with 3 iconsets (Bootstrap, FontAwesome and Dashicons). You can also create your own iconsets with your own graphics.

There will not be a selection of icons per file on the file or block itself. That would be editorial overkill and would also look inconsistent in frontend if you’re not careful. Therefore one iconset will be used for the whole block to have a consistent look.

How it’s possible to choose a set of icons?? I tried to add a PDF and a ODT but the icons of this formats doens’t show… Thanks again!

On the right side of the block settings there is a selection field where you can choose the icon set. See:

Below is also a link that leads to the icon set management. There you can also create your own iconset, you just have to define a graphic for each file type you use.

Unfortunately the plugin have a bug in some view… I cannot see the icon list and file’s icon doesn’t show in my page (not in backend, not in frontend).

Do you have the latest version 3.1.0 installed? If not, I would recommend you to update.

I still can’t reproduce the problem on my end. Another thought: deactivate the plugin and activate it again. Is the selection then visible?
