Show an event as post (in WP post-feed / blog)

    is there any possibility to show an event in the standard wordpress blog?

    Up to now, I used a workaround:

    1. Frist creating an timely-event to have it into the events-list-widget

    2. Then creating a wordpress post with the same content, to have this in the news/blog/feed/startpage.

    Is there an more elegant way?
