show category sidebar on single product pages

    Hi Support,

    I’m trying to add the category sidebar widget that is on other shop pages to product pages. I searched with google but all suggested edits do not exist with the version of woocommerce on this site – 3.6.5 (ie adjust layout to not be full) the sidebar is not hidden by css (it doesn’t exist in the page source) there is a blank region to the left of the page which should contain the sidebar?

    If i go into appearance > Widgets I have a Shop Sidebar with Product Categories: Category in it but if I click the Manage with live preview button and navigate to a product page it says ‘Your theme has 1 widget area, but this particular page doesn’t display it.’

    How can i display it? I see nothing in any functions file inhibiting this and no way to add the widget to this page type.

    Am i missing something?

    i added a snippet to functions to determine the actual template being used and once i found this i was able to add the code to show the sidebar.
