    Hello

I’m having trouble with the Woocommerce product category widget.
All my products have 1 main category and 2 subcategories. When navigating through the product categories, everything is fine, all cateogries showing up in the category tree as they should, until I click on a product. When showing the product page the category tree defaults back to the main category, making it hard for the customer to see in which sub-category they are, or even choose other subcategory on the same level (e.g. Clothes>Shirts>T-shirts or Hoodies or Tanktops etc)

Am I missing some setting, or how can I otherwise fix this weird behaviour?
    (latest WP and WC installed)

The widget uses wp_list_categories and uses the current viewed category to determine what shows and what is active. This only works on category archives. For products, it wouldn’t be straightforward because products can be in multiple categories. If you want this type of widget you’d need a custom one.

    Thank you for answer Mike.
    Alright, that makes sense then.
Any input or recommendations on plugins that would solve this problem? I’ve tried googling for hours yesterday but can’t seem to find something equivalent to what i need. or maybe I’m the only one with this problem.

I’ve not seen one tbh – I don’t think it’s that common. You can of course navigate back if you want to continue browsing where you left off, or click a category link on the product page itself where they are listed.

Thank you for your time and input Mike. I will try to make the breadcrumbs more visible, so the customer can backtrack using these if needed.

The cats are also listed near the add to cart button.

    Hi,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
