    Hi Joe,

we are using Waymark to document our Sabbatical trip through Europe. On a daily base we publish our route with photos associated. Several collections show the route within a country, and another collection shows the whole route.

And there starts out problem. For the whole route there are so many photos (that shall be shown for the daily ones) that the loading is too slow. We recognized timeouts and so on.

The question is if it possible to set the ?Set Markers Intitially“ via shortcode so we can set it for the problematic maps only.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Michael from diezweimithund.at

    Hi @hansolo68,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, I haven’t had time to have a proper look at this yet.
Just to confirm – you are looking for a Shortcode parameter that will allow you to initially hide certain Types (i.e Photos in your case)?

    Cheers,

    Hi Joe,

No problem. Yes, we would like to have a Shortcode to initially hide the photos for several maps (map for our whole trip and for each individual country), but not for all (daily maps).

We tried with the overall setting, if it solves our problem (long loading of the page). And it does, but also affects the daily maps (where we want the photos ?? )

    Best regards,

    Michael

    Hi @hansolo68 ,

I have created a solution for this on the development branch of the plugin, which you can download here.

Individual Overlay Types can now be Shown/Hidden initially using the Shortcode, overriding the “Show Initially” Setting for each. Use the hide_marker, show_marker, hide_line, show_line, hide_shape, show_shape Shortcode parameters, providing one or multiple (comma separated) Type Keys. For example:

    [Waymark map_id="1234" hide_marker="photo,alert" show_line="green"]

Please let me know what you think. If this works as expected I will add this feature to the plugin.

    Cheers,

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

sorry for the late reply. We had some problems with our camper van and therefore no time to check ??

It seems to work somehow. And yes, I think that would make our problem smaller ??

But it affects the whole page. We have on the overview page

    https://lusser.eu/wordpress/sabbatical-die-route/

the total route and some country specific routes. The shortcode for the first is also taken for the others.

Additionally I recognized that the track is displaced from the map, when scrolling while it is not completely drawn. I don’t know, if this is a new thing, or an existing problem.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Michael

    Hi @hansolo68,

I hope the van troubles are behind you! ??

Ah yes I see this too. I believe I have added a fix for this in the development branch which you can (re)download here.

Additionally I recognized that the track is displaced from the map, when scrolling while it is not completely drawn. I don’t know, if this is a new thing, or an existing problem.

Please let me know if this issue persists once you have your Maps loading faster by hiding certain Marker types. What you describe doesn’t surprise me too much because the Maps adjust as they load, so long loading times would cause odd behavior like this.

    Hi Joe,

Thanks a lot for your help. The feature works fine for us. Hope others like that the same.

Sorry for the long delay. During our trip we had problems with the internet (prepaid data sims are quite expensive and don’t have much GBs). And back in Austria I simply forgot it. Sorry.

    Best regards,
