Hi @nekokami,
thanks for contacting me and using the plugin. Sorry for the late answer but my dayjob was rather busy this week.
At this moment i’s not possible to prevent the behaviour your are desribing. I can look into it ofcourse, but the fact that I you can use HTML always brings out challenges on the frontend. This is because I have no control over what you are displaying in the content. Maybe you have a table, an image gallery or lots of markup. All of this is using characters, and the ShowMore feature is a simple one. It just stops displaying characters after X chars. If there is only HTML and now visible content, you will indeed see nothing, or something strange.
If I didn’t enable HTML, I would know that there would only be words and everything would work fine. But there was a group of users that have requested HTML in the description field and it was a reasonable request, but with some consequences.
I hope I have explained this a bit for you. My primary language is Dutch so I hope the English is okay for you haha.
I will do some testing on my local environment and I will also think of ways to explain these caveats to the user a bit more. Currently there is “just” a warning Please be careful!?HTML markup is allowed and will we printed on your website and in the WordPress admin.
But now that I think of this, not everyone would know what this means.
Also, if you can send me an export of your directory to [email protected], I can import it and take a look at what you are using.
I hope this at least answers your question a little bit.
Kind regards,
Jeroen Peters
