Show on Single Post Page not working?

I am finding the same problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

I found an answer which may not apply to everyone: in my theme, at least (using Thematic framework) The widget area I was targeting (above the main content) is a different widget-area entirely on the blog page than on the single page. I had to put a widget in both of those widget-areas for it to work.
