Show only stories from one category on home pgae

Have no idea really. I copied the index.php from my theme, removed portion where it said posts, but all I got was the header, sidebar and footer. Middle of page was missing and even if I clicked on sidebar categories, nothing showed up :/

Well I want my site to look similar to MSNBC news with certain categorie stories in certain places.

How can i place certain stories certain places instead of having a blog style scrolling page that stories are just added to the top. I want it to look more like a news site, since it isn’t going to be a blog.

I actually found the answer

Just go here: https://boren.nu/downloads/front_page_cats.phps

Copy all of that and put it into your plug in folder. Be sure to edit portion to the number of the category you only want on your front page.
