I searched the forum but it seems like all the pdf questions are regarding link to pdf…which I have already done successfully. What I’d really like to do is this.

On a WP page, I have links to free patterns. The link opens the pdf file in the browser. I would like the pdf to open within the existing page…so that the display shows my header, footer and sidebars around the pdf which would display where the post would normally be. Can anyone help please?

  • Since PDFs are not natively supported by most browsers (e.g. they usually require a plugin to be displayed in the browser); there’s no guaranteed way to do this. You’d probably be better off displaying a JPG or a GIF of the pattern that and make that image a link to the actual PDF.

Thanks…it seems like I have seen that before on some webstie though? Oh well. If anyone else knows something different, please let me know.

It’s not exactly what I wanted, but I did find something about using the <embed> command and it does show the pdf on page. Details here: https://www.planetpdf.com/mainpage.asp?webpageid=1682
