Show short description on products on productpage

Hi everyone, i am a new wordpress user who just created his own wordpress website, I am planning to sell products on it so i am using Woocommerce and added a nice theme. So as you might understand, i am still trying to figure everything out and need a little bit more help with something.

At the moment I am working on adding products to my website, i am trying to have the short description of the products shown on the product page/featured products on home page. I did do some research online but most of the options includes adding a code to the ‘functions.php’ file of your theme. But as a beginner user i am kind of anxious to mess up the whole theme, so i looked into other options. I found out that you can use a plugin called ‘Code Snippets’ to create a site specific plugin, but i am having a little troubling with finding a right code for that or finding the right way to use it. Can somebody help with that?
