• Hi,
Ive tried hard to find a solution (preferably a plugin) but not much luck.

I want to be able to have some static text above a catagory archive that describes what the catagory is about, maybe add an image or something. Ideally this would show above either catagory or individual posts within that catagory.

the ideal solution would to be able to create a page then ask it somehow to show this page above a certain catagory – BUT the page otherwise remain unpublished.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • you could use the category description for the blurb, and then just call it wherever you want it to be displayed

You can accomplish this without a plugin, especially if you’re not going to be editing the static text much.

Check out Category Templates and just create a custom category template for each category.

As for the individual posts, you can customize the single.php template with logic… there are a lot of options, but the reference above should be a good starting point.

that cat description, i know you add a cat description when you create a category but currently it doesnt show on my blog, so if i use the scripts here: that should display that description?

Of course i will give it a go anyway!

How do I simply post an image on my category page, above the posts. I don’t know where to find the code to insert anything. Is there a simple way to do this? I tried creating a category template, but I couldn’t figure that out because I couldn’t find where to edit category code. Any Ideas?
