showcase home page setup

I am using Yoast SEO plugin, learning as I go to help search engines better understand my content and show my work. I switched the home page from the regular blog post setup, to the showcase theme. That setup uses a unique made home page to redirect posts to. The issue I’m having lies in the fact that the SEO plugin doesn’t recognize any info, as the home page is blank on the edit screen, but shows content on the site. Is there a way to make the plugin verify the information? If it’s having problems does that mean search engines are as well? Thank you.
