Showing a message when adding a product over the in stock products.

Hello,

You can select Allow, but notify customer in your inventory settings. This will display a message on the cart page automatically when a customer tries to purchase more than the stock.

Have you enabled the option “Enable stock management” under WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory?

Hi, i have done that. From this product we have 4 in stock, but when putting 5 in my cart it does not show that they are crossing the stock amount:

And the result: https://d.pr/i/2Ra8gh – WooCommerce then hinders me when I try to add more than 2 to my cart of that product.

Does your theme support WooCommerce stock information? Sometimes the theme does not implement the stock checks and that leads to this result you are getting?

A conflict check could help.

* You can use https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ for this. It allows you to deactivate all plugins and activate a default theme just for your user session.
* Everyone else will see your site normally.?
* Activate the plugin and enter the “troubleshooting mode”: /wp-admin/index.php?page=health-check&tab=troubleshoot. You can then do a test again. Troubleshooting mode also allows you to selectively toggle plugins back on.?
* Here is a quick tutorial: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/troubleshooting-using-health-check/ – The plugin requires a default theme like Twenty Seventeen present to work fully.?

Thank you for your image. I have never seen that message. But i want that customers can add more in there shoppingcart then i have in stock, but i want them to know when they are buying more then i have in stock.

We also did the test, but it did not show anything like a message.

Thanks for getting back. Just to make sure we’re on the same page, there are two types of setups that have been shared so far and all have different types of notifications.

1. Not to allow backorders
Kindly note that the message I shared above would be displayed if you’re using the settings shared by @conschneider, that is, to disallow backorders: https://d.pr/i/2Ra8gh

2. To allow backorders but notify customers
From your previous message, I suggest going with the settings @maykato gave in the first response:

* In addition, you can use a plugin that will display a custom message on the product page in the case of a backorder. You can check out https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/custom-backorders-for-woocommerce/

I have these settings activated, but i want to give a pop-up when i have 2 in stock, and a client is buying 3 or more.
This is an example of another website that does that in the checkout:

They had 5 of these products in stock, and i selected 6. So i got a message.

I also tried to trigger the message so I can take a closer look, but adding 186 speakers and 11 of that guitar was ok for my cart: https://d.pr/i/bsnkzP
