Showing description with gallery.

@andyt8 – I would suggest linking the galleries to a page (Link to page option) where you can add an appropriate description then when you click on the gallery preview image in the album it will open that page with the gallery and its custom text.

You could probably work up a custom template to add the gallery description as well.

Thank you for your answer with the page. It sounds interessting… In this case, I need a page for every gallery?

Better sounds the custom template (because less work with extra page), but until now I’m not able to create one which add gallery description.

I found some websites with “How to Custom NextGen Gallery Template”, but it looks like that was written for 1.9.x.

Are there any helping text?

We do have this article: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/templates/ that may help with more information on templates.

We really do not offer a lot of support for custom templates but I imagine (without testing) that you would be looking at adding something along the lines of the following to your custom template to display the description:

<?php echo $gallery->description; ?>
