Showing images per attribute when filters

we have an attribute and variation by colour on our shop,

If a customer filters by lets say Blue, Is there a way for all the products to show the image allocated to the blue variation? rather than all the other colours?

as standard we have an image showing all colours then when they go to the product and change the drop down it shows the correct colour but is there a way when the are in the category page and use a filter for them to show all these colours?
