I have tried to install both nextgen gallery and nextgen public uploader. I have tried every possibility (inserted the code on a page both with and without id=, linked the album to a page) I can use the uploader, and I get the message successfully uploaded, but no photos are shown. What is wrong? I am also using the plugin ‘Private only custom login’ as it is a private page – is that a problem?

@lene A – Do you see the same issue if NextGEN Gallery is the only active plugin?

Ok, I think it works now! I uninstalled it all and installed then only nextgen gallery and checked that it was ok. Then I installed nextgen public uploader – and now it works! Thanks very much for your help

one question more: I uploaded a picture of 980 KB and all pictures disappeared (the pictures were in the backend gallery but the frontend was empty!) I thought that the pictures would be transformed to a suitable size? or do we have to reduce the pictures before uploading?

@lene A – We always recommend you optimize your images before uploading, but there is no requirement to do so.

We’re you expecting NextGEN Gallery to re-size the images for you?
Do you have under Gallery > Other Options > Image Options … “Automatically resize images after upload” set to Yes?

I have yes, and 800×600, and the picture that could not be uploaded was 1500×2000 ??
it is ok if it not re-sized, but then we have to know the limits ??

@lene A – Unfortunately with just the image dimensions I cannot really say if that is the case; with 1500 x 2000 you could be looking at close to 9MB (1500 x 2000 x 3 (base RGB for example)) but that is completely dependent on the compression algorithms in use for that particular image and what created it.

Your server environment may not allow for even a single image of that size to be uploaded, or it could fail over at multiple images of that size. Have a look at the values under Gallery > Overview … if anything seems low you can contact your web hosting service to see about getting them adjusted up.

    Thanks!

I got the one picture now and we will try on. I do however have difficulty when deleting pictures from gallery, even if deleted, the frame and letters remain? I had to delete the whole gallery and make a new one. I am sorry I cannot leave a link as it is a private family page with login ??
I am very grateful for your help until now!
