Showing posts on page as thumbnails

  • I don’t know wether this is the right place. I haven’t been able to find the right solution, so here comes.

    I wish to show posts from a certain category on a page with it’s thumbnail and the title of the post underneath. Preferrable two beside each other, if the browser window is wide enough, or otherwise one with title and an excerpt at the side.

    I have tried using the “Recent Posts Extended” widget with the “amr shortcode any widget”. But I have two problems with that solution:
    1: I can’t seem to make the widget transparent (but this is probably a minor issue, which can easily be fixed if you know how…)
    2: I don’t see any way to make the “Recent Posts Extended” widget distinguisable from other “Recent Posts Extended” in the shortcode widget. I wish at least 3 different setups for the Recent Posts Extended – every one representing it’s own category and possibly also various settings as to what should be included.

    I found out how to use the same widget more times.

    Now it is merely a design issue.

    I would like the posts to show with the thumbnail and the title underneath (like in the sidebar widget), except for where I wish to use excerpt; there I wish the title and excerpt to be next to (and with linebreaks, which it isn’t doing at the moment).

    And then they should also be transparent.
